The Tree Adaptation Process offers nothing short of a quantum leap from current standards in forestry breeding programmes. Historically market leaders in the forestry industry have developed superior clones through conventional breeding practices; each company jealously guards what they consider their elite genetic stock.

BioAdapt International’s technology adds value to timber and pulp companies by fast-tracking forestry breeding programs. This is achieved by using the client’s elite tree stock as the basis of the polyploid event.

In summary:

  • BioAdapt obtains samples of the client’s elite genetic material, preferably in tissue culture.
  • BioAdapt puts the client’s genetic material through our Tree Adaptation Process to create a polyploid (or tetraploid / hexaploid). The timing of this process is usually between 3 and 12 months.
  • At the conclusion of the modification process BioAdapt will have polyploidy lines for laboratory trials.
  • Upon conclusion of the laboratory trials, BioAdapt returns the polyploid lines in tissue culture to the client.
  • The client propagates the polyploid clones in their own nursery facilities to meet the needs of large scale planting.

The Tree Adaptation Process results in:

  • Faster growing trees
  • Stronger trees
  • Higher yielding trees
  • Additional carbon absorption

This is achieved using client's existing nursery and production facilities and processes.
